Tamron hasn’t announced its upcoming 70-180mm f/2.8 Di III VXD lens yet, however product photographs of the new lens have leaked online. As is often the case these days, the images have been released by Nokishita by way of Twitter. There are no official specs yet, other than the obvious ones – the focal length range and maximum aperture, but here’s what the new lens looks like.

Tamron did announce last year that four new lenses were coming for Sony E mount, with one of them possibly being the 70-180mm f/2.8. Now it looks like we might be close to an official announcement soon if the images are this polished. And while the official specs haven’t yet been published, a couple of early pre-production hands-on videos have also popped up on YouTube.
|Lens Mount||Sony E|
|Filter Size||67 mm (front)|
We’ll update the table above as we find out more, but with the lens being on show at WPPI last month and the product images now being ready, I don’t think it’ll be too much longer until we hear official word on the full specs, prices and release date.
How’s the 70-180mm range work for you? Do you prefer the slight extra reach of a 70-200mm? Or is 180mm enough?
